David Willey won't feature for Lucknow Super Giants during the Indian Premier League due to personal reasons.

The left-arm seamer was already due to miss the start of the competition following his participation in the Pakistan Super League.

He helped Multan Sultans reach the final, staged on March 18, where they were beaten by Islamabad United in Karachi.

Willey spent January and February at the ILT20 with Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, having been part of England's Cricket World Cup squad, retiring from international cricket after the tournament after being overlooked for a central contract.

He was signed at his base price of INR 2 crore (approximately £190,000) during the player auction having been released by Royal Challengers Bengaluru after two seasons. Willey previously represented Chennai Super Kings in 2018.

New Zealand seamer Matt Henry joins the Super Giants seven years on from his only IPL appearance for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2017.

Willey becomes the latest English player to withdraw from the 17th edition of the IPL. Harry Brook pulled out for personal reasons while Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson were withdrawn by the ECB.

Just 12 English players remain, half of which - Chris Woakes, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Will Jacks, Reece Topley, Tom Curran and Moeen Ali - have yet to make an appearance.
