Kieron Pollard has called time on his IPL playing career and agreed a deal to join the Mumbai Indians coaching team.
Pollard, who won five Indian Premier League titles with the franchise over 13 seasons, will take on the role of batting coach with Mumbai.
The West Indies allrounder, 35, is not intending to retire from all cricket in the immediate future but Mumbai are looking to move on and develop a new generation of talent which leaves him surplus to requirements.

"It hasn't been the easiest decision to make as I will keep playing for a few more years, but I understand that this incredible franchise which has achieved so much needs to transition and if I'm no longer to play for MI then I cannot see myself playing against MI either," he was quoted as saying in a press release from the franchise.
"Once an MI always an MI. I am immensely proud, honoured and blessed to have represented the biggest and most successful team in the IPL for the past 13 seasons."
Pollard made 3,412 runs for Mumbai in the IPL, smashing 223 sixes and making 16 half-centuries. He steps aside with a career IPL strike rate of 147.32, while he also contributed 69 wickets with the ball.

Pollard will also remain attached to the Mumbai Indians' global brand by representing MI Emirates in the new International League T20 - which is due to be hosted in the UAE in January.
