What's the match?

Mumbai Indians take on Punjab Kings in the 2023 Indian Premier League.

When is it taking place?

The match is scheduled to start at 7.30pm local time (3pm BST) on Saturday, April 22.

Where is the match being played?

The match will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Who's got form?

Mumbai Indians have got their season back on track after two defeats in their first two fixtures, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 14 runs to mark their third successive victory.

After defeats to Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings, a half-century from captain Rohit Sharma allowed the side to get their first points on the board against Delhi Capitals.

This win was then backed up with another successful chase against Kolkata Knight Riders, thanks mainly to a 25-ball 58 from Ishan Kishan, before defending 192 against Sunrisers to see them move up to fifth in the table.

Shikhar Dhawan's Punjab Kings, by contrast, are struggling for form after a bright start.

Close wins against KKR and Rajasthan Royals gave them a perfect record after two matches before heavy defeats at the hands of Sunrisers and Gujarat Titans saw them slip down the table. Sikandar Raza then led the Kings to victory over Lucknow Super Giants but they failed to back up the performance, failing to chase 175 against RCB.

What's the team news?

Jofra Archer could make his return to the side after missing the previous four matches with what head coach Mark Boucher described as "a little niggle".

Liam Livingstone made his first competitive appearance since his Test debut in December in Punjab Kings' defeat against RCB.

However, there is still a level of uncertainty around when captain Dhawan will return to the starting lineup. He has missed the previous two fixtures, with stand-in skipper Sam Curran suggesting he is getting closer to a return without revealing the extent of his injury.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa also missed the loss against RCB, with his timeline to return also unknown.

What's the key matchup?

Kagiso Rabada is yet to set the tournamnet alight, playing just two matches and taking three wickets.

However, with Punjab looking for a bit of rejuvenation in this season's competition, the bowler may be called back into the side.

The decision to bring in Rabada may be influenced by his success against Rohit Sharma, with the Mumbai Indians captain being dismissed four times in 14 innings against the South African paceman.

However, this may come at a certain level of risk for Punjab Kings, with Sharma taking a liking to Rabada, striking at 120.27 against his bowling. However, it may be worth the runs given how influential Sharma can be when he is set.
