The remainder of the 2021 Indian Premier League will take place in the United Arab Emirates in September and October, the BCCI has announced.
The T20 franchise tournament was suspended on May 4 after several players and staff tested positive for Covid-19.
Holding a virtual special general meeting, the BCCI voted unanimously to resume the IPL. The remaining 31 matches will be staged in the UAE due to the proposed dates coinciding with India’s monsoon season.
Speaking earlier in May, England’s director of men’s cricket, Ashely Giles, confirmed the ECB will not be releasing its international players for the rescheduled tournament.
The BCCI has requested an extension from the ICC to decide whether the 2021 T20 World Cup will be staged in India as planned.
