Punjab Kings have signed 22-year old Gurnoor Singh Brar to replace the injured Raj Angad Bawa for the remainder of the IPL 2023 season.
A batting allrounder, Gurnoor was born in Punjab and has played five first-class matches, scoring 107 runs at a strike rate of 120.22 whilst taking seven wickets.
His maiden first-class fifty for Punjab came in January against Jammu & Kashmir, a quickfire 64 from 60 balls including five fours and three sixes.
As for bowling, Gurnoor generates steep bounce and threatens both edges. On Ranji Trophy debut in December 2022, he claimed 4 for 16 in just 12.3 overs.
Being a left-hand bat and right-arm quick, Gurnoor is a near identical replacement for 20-year old Angad Bawa, who has sustained a left shoulder injury.
He joins senior all-rounders Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran and Sikandar Raza in the Punjab squad.
They face Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday (April 5) and will be looking to build on Saturday's strong start against Kolkata Knight Riders.
