That followed back-to-back eighth-place finishes in 2021 and 2022, the first of which came when the IPL had just eight teams, while they have only reached the final on two occasions, lifting the trophy in 2016.
Vettori is currently the head coach of the Birmingham Phoenix men's team in The Hundred and an assistant coach within the Australia men's national team.
His packed coaching resume includes stints with Barbados Royals in the CPL, Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash, and Middlesex in the T20 Blast. He also worked with Royal Challengers Bangalore between 2014 and 2018.
The appointment of Daniel Vettori to the Sunrisers is the third of a series of high-profile coaching incomings to the IPL in anticipation of the 2024 season, with Justin Langer replacing Andy Flower at the Lucknow Super Giants and Flower then joining RCB as their new head coach.
