Will Jacks went from a run-a-ball 17 to a 41-ball IPL hundred in a remarkable display of hitting for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Gujarat Titans.

The England man, hopeful of being included in the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, unleashed an extraordinary assault on Gujarat's bowling attack.

Mohit Sharma bore the brunt of Jacks' brutality, the seamer conceding 41 runs in his two overs.

At the non-striker's end, Virat Kohli had the best seat in the house. "I think it is one of the better T20 hundreds anyone would ever see," he said afterwards.

"I was down the other end watching it so closely."

The pair shared an unbroken 166-run stand for the second wicket, and a slog-swept six off Rashid Khan to move Jacks to 94 left Kohli laughing at the audacity of the shot.

That was his ninth six in 40 balls, taking him to 94. With his 41st delivery, he moved to his first IPL hundred, the fifth-fastest in the tournament's history.

With five overs remaining, RCB had needed 24 runs to win, with Jacks needing 28 for a hundred. He got there in style, with four overs unused, his second fifty coming in just 10 balls.
