Stuart Law has been appointed interim head coach of the Afghanistan men's national side.

The former Australian middle-order batter will be at the helm for Afghanistan's upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh.

The two sides will contest three ODIs in Chattogram between February 23-28 before moving to Dhaka for two T20Is, scheduled for March 3 and March 5.

Upon hanging up his bat, the 53-year-old served as an assistant coach, and later interim head coach, of the Sri Lanka national side before spending nine months as head coach of Bangladesh. He led the Tigers to their first Asia Cup final in 2012.

He later worked with Bangladesh Under-19s and West Indies as well as spending time as a batting consultant for Australia and coaching Queensland Bulls and Brisbane Heat on the domestic circuit.

Most recently, Law was head coach of Middlesex between 2019 and 2021, before being sacked at the end of last season.

Afghanistan remain on the hunt for a full-time replacement for Lance Klusener, who stepped down from his position following the 2021 T20 World Cup.
