Temba Bavuma will captain the Proteas in a crucial series for South Africa, who need to win three of their next five ODIs to secure automatic passage into the World Cup
There is no room for Dewald Brevis in South Africa's ODI squad to take on England at the end of January.
Brevis, 19, has been much discussed after impressing firstly for the country's under-19 side and then in franchise competitions, and Cricket South Africa director of cricket Enoch Nkwe recently declared him likely to be thrown into international cricket in a manner similar to that of David Warner, who became Australia's first cricketer since 1877 to make his international debut without a first-class appearance.

That introduction, though, is likely to come in the shortest format for Brevis. The youngster has been opening the batting in the SA20 for MI Cape Town alongside Ryan Rickelton, who has also been left out despite the left-hander enjoying an excellent year.

The squad is set to be overseen by Shukri Conrad, South Africa's new Test coach, while Rob Walter – the newly appointed white-ball coach – completes his current job in New Zealand with Central Stags.
This series is particularly significant for the home side, whose struggles up to now in the World Cup Super League have left South Africa needing three wins from five ODIs against England and the Netherlands to qualify directly for this year's World Cup and avoid the uncertainty of a qualifier.
With that in mind, Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje are all included as the Proteas opt for their entire battery of fast bowlers, with Keshav Majaraj and Tabraiz Shamsi the spin options. Sisanda Magala, the 32-year-old seamer, is also back and could make his first international appearance in a year.
