South Africa's three-match one-day international series in India later this month will go ahead but strict protocols will be put in place amid the growing threat of the coronavirus.

Thirty-one cases of the disease have been confirmed in India, with more 90,000 across the world.

The Proteas will head to South Asia, an area of the world particularly affected by the outbreak, for a trio of 50-over matches on March 12, 15, 18 in Dharamsala, Lucknow and Kolkata.

Cricket South Africa have issued a statement confirming that the matches are all set to go ahead, but that special measures will be taken to protect their players.

The squad will travel to India via Dubai and spent a day in Delhi, before travelling to each of the three playing venues where no positive cases have been confirmed.

Their journeys will be completed via plane in each instance in an effort to further reduce any possible exposure to the disease.

ICC postpones Cricket World Cup qualification tournament due to coronavirus concerns

Like England's players in Sri Lanka, the squad will be proved with travel kits while CSA chief medical officer Dr Shuaib Mantra will travel as the team doctor.

"Cricket South Africa (CSA) is fully conscious of the risks presented in regard to the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and has engaged in a formal risk assessment process to ensure the health and safety of and duty of care to our players and staff," a statement read.

Nepal's Everest Premier League and a World Cup qualifying event have both been postponed due to the coronavirus.

However, many tours and competitions remain on the calendar including the Indian Premier League which BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly is confident will still go ahead.
