Shubman Gill's fast start to life in one-day internationals continued against New Zealand as he became the Indian man to reach 1,000 runs in the fewest innings in the format.
Gill passed the 1,000 barrier in his 19th trip to the middle in ODIs, courtesy of a four off Blair Tickner, on his way to a bumper double hundred in Hyderabad.
It means the 23-year-old has hit the landmark a full five innings faster than the previous record.

Both Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan clocked 1,000 ODI runs in their 24th knocks in the format. Only one man has reached the milestone faster in all international cricket: Fakhar Zaman of Pakistan, who took 18 innings.
Gill went on to become only the eighth man, and fifth Indian, to hit a double century in one-day international cricket. His 208 came from 149 deliveries and included nine sixes.

No other Indian contributed more than 34 in their total of 349 for 8.
Gill accelerated at a rapid pace through the back end of his innings, hitting three sixes to reach his double ton and moving from 150 to 200 in just 23 balls.
