India have made six changes to the squad which failed to progress from the Super 12s in 2021
India have named a 15-strong squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup, with allrounder Ravindra Jadeja the notable absentee.
The 33-year-old was forced to undergo knee surgery earlier in September after sustaining an injury during the 2022 Asia Cup. Head coach Rahul Dravid had initially been optimistic about Jadeja's inclusion, stating it was "too early" to rule him out of the World Cup.
India do, however, have a strong pace attack for the tournament in Australia, with Jasprit Bumrah (back injury) and Harshal Patel (side strain) both returning to the squad. Death specialist Arshdeep Singh, who only made his debut in July 2022, has also been included.

In total, India have made six changes to the squad which failed to progress beyond the Super 12s in 2021. Ishan Kishan, Varun Chakravarthy, Rahul Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Jadeja and Mohammed Shami miss out while Dinesh Karthik, Deepak Hooda, Yuzvendra Chahal, H Patel, Singh and Axar Patel are the new faces.
Shami has, however, been named among the reserves alongside Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi and Deepak Chahar.
The remainder of the squad is as expected, with Rohit Sharma in line to lead India and KL Rahul serving as vice-captain.
India have been placed in Group B for the Super 12s, alongside Bangladesh, Pakistan, South Africa and two qualifiers.
They can make changes to their squad until their tournament opener, which will take place against Pakistan at the MCG on October 23.
