Australia will defend their title on home soil

The 2022 tournament will begin on October 16, just 335 days after Australia lifted the 2021 title in Dubai on November 14.

Eight teams have already been confirmed for the Super 12 stage of next year’s tournament, with Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, England, South Africa, India, Afghanistan and Bangladesh qualifying as a result of their ICC men’s T20I rankings on November 15.

Sri Lanka, West Indies, Scotland and Namibia will enter the tournament in the first round. The four remaining spots will be confirmed in 2022 following a series of qualifying tournaments.
