Illness has forced the Somerset seamer out of the match at the Kensington Oval, giving the Yorkshire quick a first cap alongside Saqib Mahmood
England have been forced into a late change to their XI ahead of the second Test against West Indies, with Matthew Fisher handed a debut in place of Craig Overton.
Overton, the Somerset seamer, felt unwell overnight prior to the match and has been withdrawn.
It means two debutants at the Kensington Oval for the tourists, with Saqib Mahmood already confirmed to replace Mark Wood whose elbow problem has ruled him out.
Captain Jos Root said at the toss: "Overnight Craig wasn't feeling too well and unfortunately wouldn't be able to get through the game so it is a great opportunity for Fish to come in and show how good a player he is."
Twenty-four-year-old Fisher has taken 63 wickets in 21 first-class matches.
A product of the Yorkshire academy, he played for the England Lions in Australia and was part of the team for the warm-up match against a President's XI at Coolidge.
Amid a long-running battle with injuries, Fisher took 20 wickets at 19.65 in five County Championship matches last season.
It was the presence of Fisher in the Caribbean that meant England resisted from calling up cover for the injured Wood and Ollie Robinson, who is not yet ready to return from a back problem.
