The India fast bowler's operation took place in New Zealand on Monday and Bumrah is expected to remain there for a period of recovery
Jasprit Bumrah has undergone back surgery in a bid to be fit for the 50-over World Cup in October.
The Indian fast bowler is hoping to overcome a recurring issue that has kept him out for the last six months. Currently there is no return date set.
The surgery took place in New Zealand on Monday and Bumrah is expected to remain there for a period of recovery.
The injury first ruled Bumrah out of the Asia Cup last year before he returned to action in September for two T20Is against Australia. The injury had not fully subsided though, and he was ruled out of the South Africa series and then the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Bumrah was named in India's squad for an ODI series against Sri Lanka in January, but another setback meant he did not make an appearance.
The fast bowler has been a consistent performer for India in all forms of the game. Despite a frustrating end to 2022, he had a fruitful summer, notably taking 6 for 19 in a 10-wicket ODI win over England at the Oval in July.
The surgery means that he will now also miss the Indian Premier League, where he was scheduled to feature for Mumbai Indians alongside Jofra Archer.
