The second Test of the series between South Africa and India begins on January 3 at Newlands, following the home side's comprehensive win in the opening match
India have added uncapped fast bowler Avesh Khan to their squad for the second Test of the two-match series against South Africa.
India cannot win the series after being comprehensively beaten by the Proteas at Centurion inside three days, thanks in large part to Dean Elgar's fine century and a superb, all-round bowling display from the home side, for whom Kagiso Rabada starred.
The tourists missed Mohammed Shami, absent with an ankle injury.
Instead, India fielded Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna alongside Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah, but both Thakur and Krishna were expensive, with just a wicket each for the pair in 39 overs of toil.

Khan is already in South Africa, having been part of the India A squad that stayed on after the ODI series between the countries.
The 27-year-old impressed in his three appearances, running through South Africa's middle order alongside Arshdeep Singh in the series opener in Johannesburg.
He has since taken five wickets in the first innings of the four-day clash between India A and South Africa A, accounting for Test caps Khaya Zondo, Ryan Rickelton and Duanne Olivier.
