Runs successfully chased by Aaron Finch and David Warner as Australia opened their ODI tour of India with a 10-wicket victory in Mumbai.

Their partnership is the second-highest unbeaten opening partnership in all ODI cricket, trailing only the 282 set by Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock against Bangladesh in Kimberley in 2017.

5,000

Warner has become the fourth-fastest player to the milestone of 5,000 ODI runs, passing the figure with his 115th innings in the format.

While it took Warner 10 years and 361 days to reach the tally, Virat Kohli previously managed the feat in one innings fewer but in less than half the time (5 years and 95 days).

The overall record remains with South Africa's Hashim Amla, who scored his 5,000th run against the West Indies in 2015 after just 101 trips to the middle.

However, Warner's effort has breezed past the previous record for an Australian, set by Dean Jones in 1992 after 128 attempts.

52.58

Finch and Warner's average stand from 59 matches opening the innings for Australia in ODI cricket, making the pair only the eighth to average above 50 across a sample of 20 or more games in the format.

Today's innings increased that average from 48.13, however the pair still trail Adam Gilchrist and Simon Katich (who averaged 55.46 from 26 attempts) among Australian openers.

England's World Cup winners Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy remain clear leaders, scoring 68.21 on average before conceding the first wicket in their 33 outings together at the top of the order.

David Warner has now featured in each of Australia's three biggest ODI partnerships

Warner has now played a part in each of Australia's three most valuable partnerships in ODI cricket, with different partners at the other end of the wicket on each occasion.

He previously set the record against Pakistan in 2017, putting 284 on the board alongside Travis Head before falling for a career-best 179 to the bowling of Junaid Khan.

That partnership broke the country's previous record of 260, scored by Warner and Steve Smith in Perth against Afghanistan during the World Cup of 2015.

Today's innings of 128 not out was David Warner's 18th century for Australia in ODI cricket, drawing level with Mark Waugh for the second-most among the country's players.

Ricky Ponting remains a clear leader having scored 30 centuries in his 375 ODI outings, however captain Aaron Finch's contribution of 110 not out today means he is on Warner's tail with 16, matching the tally achieved by Adam Gilchrist from a career spanning 167 more matches.

242

The previous record for the highest partnership achieved against India by any ODI opponent, set by Australia's Steve Smith and George Bailey for the third wicket at The WACA in January 2016.

On that occasion, the home openers – again, Aaron Finch and David Warner – had both fallen to the bowling of debutant Barinder Sran inside the first five overs of a chase of 310, but the efforts of Smith and Bailey saw Australia safely home with four balls and five wickets to spare.

Aaron Finch drew level with Adam Gilchrist, scoring his 16th ODI century

Australia's 10-wicket win was the 55th time such a scoreline has been achieved in men's ODI cricket, and India's first loss by such a margin since being bowled out by South Africa for 188 at Eden Gardens in 2005.

The team's previous best 10-wicket chase was of a target of 140 against Bangladesh in 2005, completed with 186 balls to spare, however today's efforts take the honour for Australia's slowest in a full-length match – that record previously stood at 22.5 overs against the West Indies in 2001.

Marnus Labuschagne becomes just the second batsman in ODI history to be listed at No.3 for their debut in the format but not be required to take the crease.

The previous instance came in Cardiff in 2012, when South Africa inserted England in the opening ODI in Cardiff after handing Dean Elgar his maiden cap, but heavy rain saw the match abandoned after only 5.3 overs of play.
