GEORGE DOBELL: The former chief executive of the PCB is understood to have been shortlisted for the role and will be interviewed in Dubai next week
Wasim Khan could be in line to take up the role of general manager at the ICC.
Wasim, who was chief executive of the PCB until last September, is understood to have been shortlisted for the role and will be interviewed in Dubai next week.
The position has been vacant since Geoff Allardice, who held it for eight years, was promoted to be the ICC’s CEO.
Like Allardice, Wasim is a former first-class player. Allardice has effectively continued to do the role since his promotion, with support from former West Indies batter Adrian Griffith, who is also expected to be a candidate for the position.

Wasim left the PCB after Ramiz Raja was appointed chair and appeared set on fulfilling executive duties as well. It also followed the decisions of New Zealand and England to delay their tours to Pakistan.
If he is appointed, it may well end his hopes of becoming the ECB chief executive. Tom Harrison, having been paid his bonus (understood to amount to a year’s salary), is expected to leave the organisation within weeks and Wasim was one of favourites to replace him.
Other candidates for the ECB job could include Johnny Grave (currently with CWI), Guy Lavender (MCC), Richard Bevan (League Managers Association) as well as internal candidates such as Clare Connor, David Mahoney and Neil Snowball.
