Yorkshire's Ben Cliff is called in as a replacement after bone stress in his lumber spin was detected following a warm-up fixtures
Sonny Baker, the Somerset seamer, has been ruled out of England's Under-19 World Cup campaign with a back injury.
The news emerged on the morning of their opening game against reigning champions Bangladesh.
Yorkshire's Ben Cliff, who has played three matches at this level, has been called up from the reserve group.
Hailing from Halifax, Cliff took four wickets in three outings during the recent tour of Sri Lanka.
Baker complained of discomfort after bowling in a warm-up fixture and was subsequently sent for an MRI scan.
The results revealed some bone stress in his lumbar spine, ending the 18-year-old's tournament without bowling a ball.
He will return to Somerset to begin his rehabilitation.
