James Anderson will become the first England cricketer to make 400 international appearances when he takes to the field against India in Dharamsala.

The 41-year-old is the 39th player to reach the milestone. India's Sachin Tendulkar is the runaway leader, with 664 appearances.

To date, Anderson has featured in 186 Tests, 194 ODIs and 19 T20Is, taking 985 wickets - itself a record for an English bowler and a haul bettered by only Muttiah Muralitharan (1,347) and Shane Warne (1,001).

The fifth Test - where England have made just one change - against India will be his 187th outing in the format.

Over the course of his international career, which began back in December 2002, Anderson has become accustomed to milestone moments.

He holds the record for the most Test appearances for England and is closing in on Tendulkar's overall record of 200 Tests.

He is the all-time leading wicket-taker among pace bowlers in Test cricket, with 698 wickets, and requires just 11 more to overtake Warne and move into second place among all bowlers.

Chris Woakes: "It annoys me when people say James Anderson has been lucky with injuries"

Away from Test cricket, Anderson is also England's leading ODI wicket-taker, with 269 scalps, and is one of only two English bowlers, alongside Darren Gough, with at least 200 wickets in the format.

Among England players, only Eoin Morgan (225) and Paul Collingwood (197) have more men's ODI caps.

He is not the only England player celebrating a significant milestone in Dharamsala, with Jonny Bairstow making his 100th Test appearance. India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will also earn his 100th Test cap if he is selected.

The Cricketer's chief correspondent George Dobell will be providing full analysis and reaction throughout the fifth Test.
