Wickets fell at regular intervals, with Rehan Ahmed, Ollie Pope – the victim of a sharp catch by Rohit Sharma in the slips, and Joe Root all departing, but it was England, having resumed on 67 for 1, who were on the front foot for much of the first session.
Their chase was led by Zak Crawley, who scored a composed 73 (132).

However, the momentum swung in India's favour in the final 10 minutes before lunch, with Crawley and Jonny Bairstow trapped lbw by Kuldeep Yadav and Bumrah, respectively: England 194 for 6.
Ben Stokes was run out by Shreyas Iyer in the 53rd but a 55-run eighth-wicket stand between Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley, who flexed his all-round attributes with 36 (47), kept England's hopes alive.

Bumrah, however, had other ideas, taking a simple caught and bowled to remove Foakes before sharing the remaining wickets with Mukesh Kumar to wrap up the win.
The series will resume in Rajkot on February 15.
