It was England who enjoyed the best of the first session on day, with James Anderson striking twice and Rehan Ahmed and Shoaib Bashir taking one apiece as India fell from 336 for 6 overnight to 396 all out.
Jaiswal did, however, score his maiden Test double century, bringing up his 200 with a six and a four off Bashir before being caught for 209 (290 balls).

Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley hit the ground running with the bat, knocking 32 runs off the deficit in the six overs before lunch, and while the former fell for 21 (17), Crawley continued his charge, bringing up his half-century off just 52 balls.
Axar Patel made the crucial breakthrough with his third ball of the day, Shreyas Iyer taking a smart diving catch over his shoulder to remove Crawley for 76 (78), before Bumrah stole the show.

His reverse swing accounted for Joe Root and Bairstow, with both players picking out Shubman Gill in the slips, while an excellent yorker demolished two of Ollie Pope's stumps. Kuldeep Yadav also played a part in England's collapse, bowling Ben Foakes and having Rehan excellently caught by Gill at midwicket en route to figures of 3 for 71.
On his return, Bumrah brought a swift end to a dangerous 47-run stand between Ben Stokes and Tom Hartley, removing both players in quick succession and picking up his 150th and 151st Test wickets in the process, before trapping Anderson lbw to wrap up up the innings.
