New Zealand vs India

Harmanpreet Kaur launched the tournament in style with a sensational century as India secured a comfortable opening-day win.

Kaur hit her best score in T20 internationals, making 103 off just 51 balls, as India racked up a competition-record total of 194 for five batting first in Providence.

Her fourth-wicket partnership of 134 with Jemimah Rodrigues is the highest for India for any wicket in the format, while Kaur's second fifty arrived in just 16 balls.

In reply, Suzie Bates hit a half-century but the challenge was just two much for the White Ferns, who finished on 160 for nine.

Bates is now the top runscorer in Women's World T20 history with 787, taking over top spot from Charlotte Edwards.

New Zealand captain Amy Satterthwaite said of Kaur's knock: "It is one of the best. I've been fortunate enough to see some pretty special innings from the likes of Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine.

"I'd say it was right up there. Her striking was outstanding and her ability to clear the boundary is something that's pretty unique in a way."

Australia vs Pakistan

Alyssa Healy was among the runs as Australia opened with a 52-run victory.

Both Healy and her opening partner Beth Mooney made 48, while captain Meg Lanning added 41, as Australia reached what they felt was a sub-par 165 for five in their 20 overs.

In response, Pakistan's innings never gained momentum.

Megan Schutt and Georgie Wareham claimed two wickets each to restrict their opponents to 113 for eight.

Pakistan's Nira Dar said: "(Having lost one match) we still have an opportunity. This wicket is very slow and this kind of wicket is just like (what we have) in Pakistan. So we have a great opportunity for next matches, for next three matches."

West Indies vs Bangladesh

The host nation got off to an excellent start at the World T20 despite an early scare.

The Windies had been restricted to just 106 for eight from their 20 overs by Asian champions Bangladesh but fought back superbly with the ball.

Deandra Dottin returned the best figures in a Women's World T20 and the cheapest ever five-wicket haul in T20Is with 5-5 as Bangladesh collapsed to 46 all out.

"I rate this one as one of the top performances I've had. Most of the performances I've had in the past were with the bat, but coming through with the ball is very tremendous," Dottin said.

"I think it's fabulous playing in front of the crowd with the showcase that we have put on with the ball and the fielding and stuff. It was great."
