The Cricketer runs the rule over the individual performances of the two sets of players after India's World Cup encounter with Australia
Shikhar Dhawan (117): Batted patiently before taking his chances against the easier pickings of Coulter-Nile and pushed on to make it count. 8.5
Rohit Sharma (57): Performed nicely alongside Dhawan for his fifty, couldn’t convert in the manner of his opening partner. 7.5
Virat Kohli (82): Took a while to get going and never really unleashed but, as he tends to do, ended up with a decent total next to his name. 8
KL Rahul (11*): Strike rate of 366.66 from the three balls he faced! 6
Kedar Jadhav (0* & 0-14): Didn't face a ball, one expensive over. 4
Shikhar and Sharma sailing on a sea of Bharat Blue
MS Dhoni (27): Powerful showing with the bat, forced Starc rethink his angle. Life in the old dog yet... 6.5
Hardik Pandya (48 & 0-68): Sent in at No.4 to finish fast. Did his job with 48 off 27. Not so sharp with the ball. His second over went for 21. 6
Bhuvneshawar Kumar (DNB & 3-50): Struck twice in the 40th over to remove Steve Smith and Marcus Stoinis as Australia were starting to build some momentum. A skilful operator. 8
Kuldeep Yadav (DNB & 0-55): One half of India’s skill spin pairing. No wickets today but played his part in stifling Australia's chase. 7.5
Yuzvendra Chahal (DNB & 2-62): Plenty of variation, ended Warner's slog and then removed Maxwell who looked in the mood for a 50-ball ton. 8.5
Jasprit Bumrah (DNB & 3-61): Continues to impress, picking up another three scalps. Great skill in his change up of pace. 8
Dhoni enjoyed a brief cameo with the bat
Aaron Finch (36): Looked to be the aggressor early on with a major task ahead of him. Fell to the run out before he could do any lasting damage. 6
David Warner (56): Slow, slow start and never took off. The fifty came from 77 deliveries. A ton of scoreboard pressure, granted, but it’s his job to bear it on the shoulders. 6
Usman Khawaja (42): Some quality shots from a quality batsman but beaten by Bumrah. 6.5
Steve Smith (69): A measured knock from Australia’s best bat, took the innings deep enough to keep Australia interested. 7.5
Glenn Maxwell (0-45 & 28): Punched Bumrah for four first ball. flew out of the traps, striking four of his first eight balls for four. Too much to do ultimately. 6
Marcus Stoinis (2-62 & 0): Brilliant grab to have MS Dhoni caught & bowled, however he went at nearly nine an over. Cleaned up first ball by Bhuvneshwar. 3

Alex Carey (55*): Super cameo from the wicketkeeper, registering the tournament's fastest fifty (25 balls) so far. 8.5
Nathan Coulter-Nile (1-63 & 4): His first over (14 from it) released all the pressure Cummins and Starc had created. Did pick off Sharma but will probably be thankful to only go for 63. 5
Pat Cummins (1-55 & 8): Just the one wicket for Cummins today, and that came from Pandya looking to hit everything for six. Economical compared to the rest. 7
Mitchell Starc (1-74 & 3): The man to finally get Dhawan, albeit a poor shot rather than a perfectly-executed ball. Expensive by his standards. 5
Adam Zampa (0-50 & 1): First ball - short down the leg side - set the tone. A couple of tighter overs in the mix but not the control you need from your primary spinner. 4
