India have called up Mayank Agarwal for the one-day international series against West Indies later this month as a replacement for the injured Shikhar Dhawan.

Dhawan continues to suffer from a knee injury he picked up playing for Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy clash against Maharashtra in November.

The 34-year-old has been unable to feature in the three-match T20 series against the Windies due to the problem, and his absence for the 50-over clashes has now been confirmed.

Agarwal has yet to be capped at ODI level but was called up during the World Cup as a replacement for Vijay Shankar.

He has an impressive List A record, having scored 3,869 runs in 79 innings at an average of 50.90.

Over the last 12 months, the 28-year-old has solved a long-held problem at the top of the order in the India Test team.

In nine matches he has averaged 67.07, scoring two double centuries, one hundred and three fifties across 13 innings.

The two-time world champions meet the Windies in three ODIs starting on December 15 in Chennai.

The series then moves to Visakhapatnam on December 18, before the final game in Cuttack on December 22.
