India's players have been fined 80 per cent of their match fees are being found to be four overs short of their target
India have been fined for a slow over-rate for a third successive match after falling foul of ICC regulations during their four-wicket defeat against New Zealand on Wednesday.
With Virat Kohli back at the helm in Hamilton after sitting out the final instalment of the T20I series, India were found by match referee Chris Broad to be four overs short of their target after time allowances were taken into consideration.
As a result, the side have been fined 80 per cent of their match fees, following on from fines of 40 per cent and 20 per cent picked up in the fourth and fifth T20Is at Wellington and Mount Maunganui.
Until breaching the regulation at Wellington, it had been almost six year since India’s previous infringement.
In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.
Kohli pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing.
The tourists were beaten for the first time on their tour of New Zealand, with Ross Taylor's unbeaten century heading up a successful chase of India's 347 for 4.
