Hampshire have nailed down leg-spinner Mason Crane to a new contract, which runs until 2022.

The 23-year-old arrived at Hants at the age of 14 and has spent his entire county career at The Ageas Bowl.

Crane, who has made three outings for England but not since his maiden Test appearance in 2018, took 23 wickets across the Bob Willis Trophy and T20 Blast last term.

In all, Crane has 182 wickets in all formats for Hampshire since debuting in 2015.

After 1,000 days in the international wilderness, is now the time for Mason Crane?

"I’m very happy to commit to a new extension here at Hampshire," he said. "I’m looking forward to what the future brings for us as a team and can’t wait to continue to improve and contribute to the club’s success over the coming years."

Director of cricket Giles White added: "Mason is a key member of our squad and his contributions with the ball this season have been excellent. We’re delighted with his progress and the fact that he’s committed his future to Hampshire. He will be an important player for us moving forward."
