Where is the match being played?

Every game in the 2021 Caribbean Premier League is being held at Warner Park on St Kitts, in an effort to minimise the Covid-19 risk to the tournament.

Who’s got the form?

Well, it's the start of the season, so for these teams it's not particularly easy to give you a firm answer.

Guyana Amazon Warriors are the perennial bridesmaids of the CPL, with the franchise having reached the knockout stages with impressive regularity without going on to win the tournament.

Last season, the Amazon Warriors were eliminated at the semi-final stages, courtesy of a 10-wicket defeat by St Lucia.

Trinbago Knight Riders are the high-rollers of the competition, and last year they were absolutely devastating.

Trinbago won every single one of their matches to claim the title in the most emphatic fashion.

Who to watch?

Imran Tahir remains a key player for Guyana Amazon Warriors, even at the age of 42. He showed in The Hundred that none of his skill or enthusiasm have waned.

Naveen-ul-Haq is also back for more, having impressed last year in taking 11 wickets – as many as his compatriot Rashid Khan bagged for Barbados Tridents. The seamer’s Bumrah-like action and range of variations made him a threat, and he was impressive for Leicestershire Foxes in the T20 Blast earlier in the year.

The acquisition of another countryman in left-arm wrist-spinner Waqar Salamkheil adds to the mystery of a side that has often relied on left-field overseas signings.

Kieron Pollard is top-ranked man in the T20 Player Index; no one in world cricket has played more T20 matches than the great allrounder. He has made 550 appearances across 17 teams. Last year, 156 of his 207 runs came in boundaries as he led Trinbago to an inevitable title.

Darren Bravo became the glue as the pitches became more difficult to bat on; he was dismissed just five times in nine innings, churning out 297 runs in the process.

Sunil Narine played just five times as he struggled for fitness, but he arrives in this year’s edition on the back of playing a full part in The Hundred for Oval Invincibles.

What's the news from the camps?

Guyana Amazon Warriors have named Nicholas Pooran as captain.

Team manager Omar Khan said: "It’s good to see the progress that Nicholas has made throughout the years with us. We want to give him the full support and I’m sure all the players in the team and the management staff of the franchise will be supporting him fully."
