The Delhi Capitals spinner decided against running out the Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman in what would have been a repeat of last year's act
Delhi Capitals' Ravichandran Ashwin has put his Indian Premier League rivals on notice after insisting he will not hesitate to Mankad future opponents after giving Aaron Finch a second life during the clash with Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Ashwin caused major controversy during last year's competition after dismissing Rajasthan Royals batsman Jos Buttler in similar circumstances, after pulling up during his delivery stride.
The India international threatened to do the same on Monday (October 5) after Australia white-ball skipper Finch left his crease before he released the ball but decided against it. Though within the rules, the act is considered against the spirit of the game in some quarters.
Jos Buttler: Mankad dismissal was probably the wrong decision
Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting stated before the 13th edition of the IPL in the United Arab Emirates that he and Ashwin had come to an agreement that in the event of a repeat of the Buttler incident he would not Mankad an opponent. "I think we're both on the same page," he told cricket.com.au.
But the 34-year-old has taken to Twitter to suggest that given the opportunity again, he would show no mercy.
"Let’s make it clear !! First and final warning for 2020. I am making it official and don’t blame me later on."

The Delhi-based franchise, who have never won the competition or reached the final, are next in action on Friday against Buttler's Royals as they look to remain in top spot in the table.
