The New Zealand left-hander struck an unbeaten 91 for the Dambulla Sixers but Dasun Shanaka's allround effort proved enough for Kandy Falcons to make a winning start to the Lanka Premier League
New Zealand batter Mark Chapman got the Lanka Premier League off to a flying start with an unbeaten 91 for the Dambulla Sixers.
Chapman's 91 off 61 balls rescued his side after the Kandy Falcons had reduced them to 25 for 4 in the powerplay.
The Hong Kong-born left-hander combined with Chamindu Wickramasinghe (62) for an unbeaten partnership worth 154.

Champman may have counted himself quite unlucky to have only played a small part in New Zealand's disastrous World Cup campaign which saw them knocked out in the group stages.
Their partnership was not enough as Dasun Shanaka's 3 for 20 and 46 not out off 15 balls meant the Falcons won by six wickets.
Shanaka's last Test match appearance was against England in 2021 but may yet earn a recall for Sri Lanka's tour of England this summer.
