The third edition of the Lanka Premier League will take place in a two-and-a-half-week window in December following its postponement earlier in the year.

The competition, which has faced multiple issues since its launch in 2020, was due to be held in August but was pushed back as a result of the economic crisis in Sri Lanka.

It has now been confirmed, though, by Sri Lanka Cricket that the five-team competition will begin on December 6 and run until its final on December 23.

The cities involved are Jaffna, Galle, Colombo, Kandy and Dambulla, but the release from the governing body doesn't include team names, suggesting that ownership of the franchises is not yet set in stone.

Three venues will be used across the tournament, with Hambantota, Kandy and Colombo each hosting a leg each, with the capital city set to host the back-end of the competition, including the eliminator and final.

Jaffna, who won in 2021, will face Galle, who they beat in last year's final, in the opening match of the tournament, with each side facing one another twice in the round-robin phase.
