Kagiso Rabada has been fined by the ICC
Kagiso Rabada’s fiery send-off for Shikhar Dhawan at Port Elizabeth has, unsurprisingly, landed him in hot water with the match referees.
The South African has been fined and received one demerit point in relation to his conduct in the fifth ODI against India.
Rabada was found guilty of a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel under article 2.1.7, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his/her dismissal during an International Match”.
Rabada admitted the offence after the match, accepting the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees and, and therefore there will be no formal hearing.

Rabada gave a send-off to Shikhar Dhawan
The incident in question saw Rabada exaggeratedly waving Dhawan off the field after the Proteas paceman had dismissed the batsman. The bowler also had a few choice words for the opener.
Rabada's latest offence brings his tally of demerit points to five, after accumulating three in an ODI against Sri Lanka in February 2017, and one against England during the Lord’s Test last summer.
He is now three short of the next threshold which states that when a player reaches eight demerit points in a 24-month period, a suspension will occur. The nature of which could be either two Tests; one Test and two ODIs/T20Is; or four ODIs/T20Is. This is decided on whichever fixtures arrive first at the time of the suspension.
