The all-rounder has been replaced by Doug Bracewell ahead of first ODI against West Indies
Colin de Grandhomme has withdrawn from New Zealand's one-day international series against West Indies following the death of his father.
De Grandhomme has flown to Zimbabwe to be with family following the sudden passing of his dad Laurence.
He will be replaced in the Kiwi squad by Doug Bracewell, who has not played for his country since October 2016.
"This is obviously extremely sad news for Colin and his family and we're all thinking of them at the moment," Gavin Larsen, New Zealand's selector, said.
No timeframe has been put on a return to the squad for De Grandhomme, who has been in excellent form.
Bracewell could therefore feature as an all-rounder in the Black Caps' opening clash with the Windies at Whangarei on Wednesday.
