Tom Moody, who was the franchise's director of cricket in 2021, returns as head coach while former RCB head coach Simon Katich joins as his assistant
Sunrisers Hyderabad have unveiled a host of new support staff signings, including Brian Lara and Dale Steyn, as they attempt to bounce back from a disappointing 2021 tournament.
The two-time champions finished the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League in eighth position, winning just three of their 14 matches and sacking David Warner as team captain.
Joining the franchise ahead of the 2022 tournament, Lara will serve as a strategic advisor and batting coach while Steyn will take on pace bowling responsibilities. The South Africa, in particular, is a shrewd signing, having taken 97 wickets in 95 IPL matches before hanging up his spikes in August.
At Sunrisers, they will work alongside Tom Moody who has returned to the head coaching role after serving as director of cricket under Trevor Bayliss. Moody coached the franchise for seven seasons between 2013 and 2019, leading them to the title in 2016 and reaching the knockout stages on five occasions.

Simon Katich has been appointed as his assistant coach. The former Australia international previously served as head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore, leading Virat Kohli’s side to back-to-back fourth-placed finishes.
Meanwhile, former India batter Hemang Badani has joined the club as a fielding coach and scout.
Muttiah Muralidaran will continue as spin bowling coach.
The dates of the 2022 Indian Premier League is yet to be announced but the mega auction has reportedly been scheduled for February 12-13. Sunrisers Hyderabad will head to the auction with Kane Williamson and uncapped duo Umran Malik and Abdul Samad as their retained players.
