"I am very excited about joining up with Glamorgan, and I hope that I can help contribute to the team in their important final few games of the season," Brathwaite said.
"I really enjoy playing cricket in England and Wales, and I will be doing my best to add as many runs and wickets as possible to help the team’s cause.
Director of cricket Mark Wallace said: "We are very happy to have a player of Kraigg’s quality joining us for the final stretch of the season at short notice.
"We are up there in the race for the top three and we believe that Kraigg’s ability with the bat and his international experience will be of great benefit to the club, and to the players around him.
"He’s played some great knocks all over the world, and with previous experience in these conditions with the West Indies, Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, we are confident he will hit the ground running."
