The South African played for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League and captained Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash during the winter but considers Glamorgan his home from home
Captain Colin Ingram believes his experiences in Twenty20 leagues across the world have made him a better leader as he aims to end Glamorgan's wait for a Vitality Blast title.
The hard-hitting South African is one of world cricket's most travelled professionals, having played in several different T20 leagues from India to Australia and from Afghanistan to the Caribbean.
It is in Wales, however, where he feels most at home and where the 34-year-old plans to set down roots in Cardiff with his family.
"(Cardiff is) my cricket home and where my family hope to settle permanently in the future," he said. "We regard Cardiff as our second home, and it has everything you could wish for to bring up a small family."
Since arriving in Wales four years ago, Ingram has been Glamorgan's most consistent performer in T20, during which time they reached just their second Finals Day in 2017.
His leadership on and off the field is crucial to their hopes and after a winter that saw him play for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League and captain Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash, he feels ready to make an even greater mark.
"I have learnt a lot about captaincy, and what I've learnt can be put into practice at Glamorgan," he said, ahead of their home opener against Somerset on Thursday evening.

"They may be little things but if it means the difference between winning and losing games, then it would have been worth it."
Ingram found his spell with the Delhi Capitals a worthwhile learning experience, even if things did not always go his way.
"I learnt a lot about myself during the IPL. It was very tough, as I had limited opportunities in a new scenario," he said.
"I have always batted up the order, but for Delhi I was constantly coming in at number five or six with only a few runs needed to win.
"I am now back on familiar territory, and with all the experience I've gained in tournaments around the world I am hoping that can help the players and I am sure we can all enjoy a successful T20 tournament."
The Welsh county head into this season's competition in a positive frame of mind, having lost just once in the Specsavers County Championship and in position to earn promotion.

Glamorgan this week also confirmed the arrival of Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman as an overseas signing following the arm injury Shaun Marsh suffered during the World Cup to rule him out of contention.
Mitch Marsh is also due to join up with the squad, pending any call-up to Australia’s Ashes squad, and with further additions such as Billy Root this season Ingram believes he will lead a squad intent on getting better.
"That can only mean more competition for places, the players will push themselves harder and create a new impact," he said.
"Billy Root for instance, is a proven one-day specialist, and someone you can move up and down the order.
"I think Fakhar is an excellent addition to our squad. I have worked with him in Abu Dhabi - he's well organised, has a good cricket brain and I am sure he will fit in well.
"Mitch Marsh is our second overseas player and if he is not included in the Australian Ashes squad he will also be an excellent addition to the group."
