Chase's commitment to local handcrafted bats wins international recognition

Nothing beats picking up a handcrafted cricket bat for the first time, whether you're a club cricketer or playing for your country.

Chase Cricket were able to call on players for not just one, but two, nations to give their endorsement in person when Hampshire teammates Liam Dawson and Brad Wheal, who've played internationally for England and Scotland respectively, visited their factory in the county to pick up their bats for the new season.

Liam and Brad got to see first-hand the craftsmanship that goes into making their bats at every stage – from shaping and press, right through to polishing and the all-important final checks.

And the duo were also impressed with the range of other equipment on offer too, including pads, gloves, training gear, clothing and accessories, before testing it all out for themselves in the nets.

Check out the video to see their reaction to trying out their new bats.

Like the Hampshire pair, club cricketers are guaranteed great performance from their Chase bat, which is crafted using only the finest quality English Willow.

Technically speaking, their bats are made of the finest salix alba caerulea, which is sourced locally to the Chase factory.

This devotion to local produce allows Chase's batmakers to pay close attention to the weight and grain structure of each cleft.

Throughout the manufacturing process, every bat is meticulously checked, ensuring that no Chase bat leaves the workshop unless it meets the company's own high standards.

And, if you're unable to make a visit in person, Chase offer a bat builder service on their website, giving you the ability to craft your own perfect bat online.

The tool allows you to take control of every aspect of the process, from the size and middle to the weight, spine, toe, stickers and grip from the comfort of your desktop or mobile device.

Their website also features expert advice and other interesting features about bats and the craft of creating them.
