How BOLA make the perfect bowling machine

The Cricketer went behind the scenes at the BOLA factory in Bristol

We visited BOLA HQ in Bristol to find out exactly what goes into making the BOLA Professional machine, the jewel in the crown of BOLA’s business which is universally used by clubs in the UK to professional counties and international teams all over the world.

Each BOLA Professional is made at their dedicated factory in Bristol, by skilled workers who assemble the machines to an exacting standard to make sure that each machine is ready to go into action as soon as the customer receives their new bowling machine.

All of the components that go into each BOLA Professional are made locally, including the all important ball throwing wheels which are made in a foundry in Devon, and are fitted with a Urethane tyre which are balanced to ensure that each wheel spins as smoothly as possible which provides BOLA’s legendary bowling accuracy time after time.

Each machine is tested for 8 hours in advance of delivery to check performance and to ensure that the machine meets BOLA's high standards of manufacturing.

Over the last 4 decades the BOLA Professional has undergone many upgrades to improve the performance, longevity and accuracy of the machines, as well as adding in new technology such as variation mode to allow greater competition in practice sessions and to come later in 2024, the ability to run your BOLA Professional from an APP allowing users much easier access to the machines functions.

BOLA have been evolving the Professional machine over the years and have managed to do so without losing the familiarity that people like, so when customers buy a new Professional will operate in much the same way as the one they had before.

The customer service at BOLA is second to none and helps to explain why they have been No.1 for bowling machines for more than four decades.

BOLA bowling machines will help your players to hit more balls, score more runs and enjoy playing cricket more, so if your club, school or university has been speaking about investing in a cricket bowling machine take a look at the BOLA range online or call the team for a chat.

Now is also the time to ensure that your BOLA Professional or BOLA Junior is ready for action

With batters champing at the bit to have a hit in the nets.

Check your batteries are fully charged, check the quality of your balls, as older balls are less accurate when delivered from the machine, you may want to invest in new stock.

BOLA have 5oz senior balls, in red or yellow, while the BOLA Junior uses a softer 3oz ball.

These 3oz balls can also be used with the BOLA Professional, and will give higher bounce to enable players to practice back-foot shots at reduced ball speeds, while building confidence against the short ball.

If you discover any issues with your machine, get in touch with BOLA to discuss repairs or a service. All the team need is the serial number of your machine.
