The skipper and opening batter has emerged from isolation after returning a negative Covid-19 test
Rohit Sharma is braced to return for India in time for the start of the white-ball leg of the England tour after testing negative for Covid-19.
The captain missed the fifth Test after returning a succession of positives prior to the start of the ongoing Edgbaston clash.
He will undergo mandatory cardiovascular tests to check his lung capacity after having had the virus.
Though not considered for the tour match against Northamptonshire on Sunday (July 3), the 30-year-old is now available to return for the first T20I at The Ageas Bowl on Thursday (July 7).
"Yes, Rohit has tested negative and as per medical protocols is now out of quarantine," a BCCI official told PTI.
"However, he is not playing today's T20 warm-up game against Northamptonshire as he will need some recovery time and training ahead of the first T20I."
Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant, all of whom are involved in Birmingham, are missing for the first T20I, before returning for the remaining white-ball matches.
