Tammy Beaumont has gone for an x-ray on her left thumb after being struck while fielding.

The England opener was operating close in on the leg-side when she suffered the blow from a pull shot from Alyssa Healy off the bowling of Laura Marsh.

England are awaiting results from the x-ray, with any injury likely to further disrupt England's chances of pulling off a crucial and unlikely victory against Australia in their Women's Ashes Test.

She has since returned to the ground, but remains off the field while awaiting results of the scan.

Beaumont is England's top run-scorer in the series, having struck a hundred in the second game of the ODI series.

Australia have made a terrific start to the solitary Test, with Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning and Ellyse Perry all passing fifty on the first day at Taunton.

If Australia avoid defeat in the four-day fixture, they will retain the Women's Ashes.
