The Bognor Regis stopper is on the sidelines at Lord's as his remarkable rise in the sport continues, following three outings for Middlesex
England have called on a non-league football goalkeeper as fielding cover for the second Ashes Test against Australia at Lord's.
Dan Lincoln, a custodian at Isthmian League Premier Division side Bognor Regis, is among three sub-fielders for the game and could be enlisted if one of the XI leave the field when Australia bat.
The 24-year-old has already turned out three times for Middlesex in the T20 Blast as a replacement for AB de Villiers, having been playing in the Minor Counties for Berkshire.

But involvement in an Ashes Test, albeit as a peripheral figure whose responsibilities during England's innings will be to provide batsmen with drinks and replacement equipment, caps a remarkable rise from his humble beginnings in the sport.
Sussex's Nick Oxley and Middlesex's George Scott have also been selected a sub-fielders for the match.
Naturally, for a goalkeeper, Lincoln is regarded as a fine fielder and could yet prove an inspired selection later in the match.

Lincoln has spent much of his football career on loan from former parent club Reading, having had spells at the likes of Met Police, Harrow Borough, Farnborough and Nuneaton, before leaving the Championship club in 2015.
After spells with Hayes and Yeading and Basingstoke, he had an unsuccessful trial with Premier League giants Arsenal.
He joined Bognor in 2016 and has been the club's No.1 for the last three campaigns, however, his cricketing commitments mean he is unlikely to return to the Rocks during the new campaign.
