Nat Sciver-Brunt reveals heartwarming reason she missed Pakistan T20

England's two-time ICC Women's Player of the Year missed the opening Pakistan T20 for a "minor medical procedure"

Nat and Katherine Sciver-Brunt, England internationals present and past, have opened up on the reason behind the two-time ICC Women's Cricketer of the Year's absence from the opening Pakistan T20I.

All-rounder Nat, who was speaking as the latest guest on Under The Lid - Inside Pro Cricket Podcast, missed the series opener at Edgbaston after undergoing a "minor medical procedure".

The subject was addressed in discussion with wife Katherine and co-host Jack Brooks, former Somerset and Yorkshire bowler.

Nat revealed: "Katherine and myself would love to start a family, but I'd also like to continue playing cricket.

"In the period between getting back from New Zealand and this tour starting, I thought it was a great time for me to go through the egg-freezing process."

"It just felt like I needed to absolutely be done with cricket and retire before I can even think of that," added Katherine. "And what if I'm 40 and it's too late?"

"It's always been like that for me, but I think for now and anybody from this point on can absolutely see that egg freezing is a great resource to tap intoif you want to quit having those worries."

The three-match series resumes at Wantage Road on Friday (May 17). Nat said: "The ECB have been really good, all the medical teams have been really supportive making sure my return to cricket has been smooth.

"The procedure really wipes you out for a few days," she added.

Quizzed on the donor by Brooks, Katherine quipped they were aiming for a mixture of Jimmy Anderson and Jos Buttler to the amusement of her co-host and wife.
