Rocky Flintoff and Archie Vaughan, sons of former England teammates Freddie and Micheal, have been selected for the England U19s Test series against Sri Lanka.

Flintoff and Vaughan have both signed their first professional contracts this summer with Lancashire and Somerset respectively.

The former has already represented the England under-19s this summer, making scores of 22 and 3 in the ongoing Youth ODI series against Sri Lanka. For the latter, this is a maiden call-up to the U19 squad.

Vaughan's inclusion is yet another member of the under-19 squads with a close relative already in the professional game. In this 14-man squad, Jaydn Denly’s uncle is Kent all-rounder Joe, and Rehan Ahmed's younger brother Farhan features.

The England under-19s levelled the Youth ODI series yesterday with a 30-run win at Hove, thanks largely to a record-equalling 174 from opener Freddie McCann.

There will be a new captain for this Youth Test series as Warwickshire batter Hamza Shaikh will take charge of the side.

Shaikh said: "Captaining England at any level is an incredible honour. I've got to know the guys well over the last couple of years so I know I'll have great support and experience to draw on.

"I've captained Warwickshire’s Second XI several times this summer. At times I've been captaining sides including the likes of Chris Woakes, Liam Norwell, and Jake Lintott.

"They've helped me and given me more confidence in my leadership on and off the field, advising on bowling options and field placements.

"I like to think I'm a fairly calm guy and captaincy doesn’t phase me. I'm looking forward to the challenge and hopefully coming away with a series win.”

The first game of the two-match series starts at Wormsley on July 8 before the second game takes place at Cheltenham from July 16.

England Men U19s Youth Test squad: Hamza Shaikh (Warwickshire – captain), Farhan Ahmed (Nottinghamshire), Charlie Barnard (Lancashire), Jack Carney (unattached), Jaydn Denly (Kent), Rocky Flintoff (Lancashire), Kesh Fonseka (Lancashire), Alex French (Surrey), Alex Green (Leicestershire), Eddie Jack (Hampshire), Freddie McCann (Nottinghamshire), Harry Moore (Derbyshire), Noah Thain (Essex), Archie Vaughan (Somerset).
