Joe Root's side are due to play matches in Galle and Colombo, starting next week, and they are both still due to go ahead
England's two-Test series against Sri Lanka are still going ahead but the ECB have urged fans planning to travel to take necessary provisions.
Joe Root's side are scheduled to play matches in Galle (19-23 March) and Colombo (27-31 March).
Those games remain in the pipeline, though both sets of players will refrain from engaging in handshakes and interacting with fans around the games.
The World Health Organisation have confirmed a global pandemic. There are three confirmed cases in Sri Lanka while there have been 590 in the United Kingdom.
Thousands of England fans are due in Sri Lanka over the coming days for the Tests. While the series has not yet been called off, the ECB have warned those planning to travel of the "highly evolving situation" and advised fans to consultant government advice before travelling.
"We are in regular contact with the Sri Lankan and British High Commissions in addition to Sri Lanka Cricket around the Sri Lanka v England Test matches, scheduled in the next few weeks," a statement read.
"At this stage, the series is planned to continue, but we want to stress that this is a highly evolving situation and circumstances are changing rapidly, sometimes several times a day.
"We urge fans who are considering travelling to consult with the current British and Sri Lankan Government advice, to continue to do this up until the point of travel and also for the duration of their trip.”
The coronavirus has already affected dozens of planned tours and events, with Pakistan Super League matches and South Africa's one-day internationals in India being forced behind closed doors.
The Indian Premier League is likely to be played without fans, if not cancelled entirely, after a governing directive for all sporting events to be played in empty stadia.
Additionally, Surrey, Somerset, Lancashire and Worcestershire have each cancelled their respective pre-season tours.
