The Surrey batsman damaged the same area he underwent surgery on last April, which forced him to miss much of last season. He will have a scan on the blow on Tuesday

Ollie Pope is suffering from a sore left shoulder and will have a scan on Tuesday, Chris Silverwood confirmed after the conclusion of the fourth day's play at the Ageas Bowl.

There are no plans for him to return to the field in the immediate future after he was forced out of England's third Test against Pakistan at The Ageas Bowl.

The 22-year-old was retrieving an edge through gully by Shan Masood during the tourists' second innings when he appeared to jar the joint by the boundary edge.

He immediately left the field before the next delivery, heading towards the dressing room for further assessment and was replaced by Gloucestershire's James Bracey. His fitness will be reviewed at the lunch interval.

Pope underwent surgery on his left shoulder in April 2019 after dislocating the joint during a One-Day Cup match against Essex at The Kia Oval.

He didn't return until August and was not involved in the Ashes series against Australia.
