England name XI to face India at Edgbaston

Joe Root names a new vice-captain and confirms the team that will feature in England's 1,000th Test

England have named their XI to take on India in the first Test of the five-match series with Adil Rashid named as the only spinner.

Moeen Ali and Jamie Porter are the two members of the 13-man squad to miss out, with Surrey allrounder Sam Curran set to feature in his second Test.

It has also been confirmed that Jos Buttler will take over the vice-captaincy duties.
