Resuming with England 144 for 4, Joe Clarke (61 not out overnight) continued to knock on the first XI's door, reaching his maiden Lions hundred from 171 balls.

The Nottinghamshire batsman's century (107, including 10 fours) pushed England to 266 as the tourists set their opponents 312 to win.

Pakistan's reply faltered early on with Essex's Jamie Porter striking with the first ball of the innings to trap Khurram Manzoor lbw.

Mark Wood clean bowled Shan Masood (11) in the fourth over to reduce the hosts to 12 for 2 before a third-wicket stand of 120 between Abid Ali (58*) and Usman Salahuddin (59*) set up an intriguing final day.

Mark Wood added to his four first-innings wickets

Earlier in the day Sam Billings (38) could only add six to his overnight total before becoming Shaheen Afridi's thrid vicitm of the innings.

Dom Bess fell cheaply to Mohammad Asghar but an unbeaten 36 from Wood and 21 from Danny Briggs helped push the target beyond 300.

Shaheen followed his three first-innings wickets with figures of 4 for 80 second time around.

England will return tomorrow in search of the eight wickets they need for victory. Pakistan require another 180 runs to win.
