England international Emma Lamb has undergone surgery on her lower back.

The 26-year-old allrounder was withdrawn from England's squad ahead of their Test match against India in December due to an unspecified back issue and returned to the UK to consult a spinal surgeon.

Sophia Dunkley opened the batting with Tammy Beaumont in her absence.

She will complete her rehabilitation under the supervision of the ECB and Thunder medical teams.

Lamb made her international debut in a T20I against New Zealand in September 2021 and has gone on to feature in all formats for England, predominantly as an opening batter.

In two Tests, she has scored 76 runs, while in 11 ODIs, she has scored 363 runs at 36.30 and taken three wickets.

England are not in action again until mid-March, when they are scheduled to face New Zealand in five T20Is and three ODIs.
