Hampshire fast bowler Turner had been a surprise name in Matthew Mott's squad when he was called up last week for the first time, but he suffered a side injury while on Hundred duty with Trent Rockets
Brydon Carse has been called up by England for the T20I series against New Zealand after John Turner was ruled out with a side injury.
Hampshire fast bowler Turner had been a surprise name in Matthew Mott's squad when he was called up last week for the first time.
But the 21-year-old, who was born in Johannesburg but as of last month had served the required residency period to satisfy England's selection criteria, picked up the injury while playing in The Hundred for Trent Rockets.
Carse himself has endured a frustrating summer, missing a portion with a side injury that also restricted him to playing as a specialist batter at times during the T20 Blast.

But he returned with two County Championship appearances for Durham in July and has been t full tilt through The Hundred with Northern Superchargers.
Carse, like Turner, is also uncapped in T20Is. He made his ODI debut as part of the Covid-affected series against Pakistan, when England were forced to field a second string, and he last played for England against South Africa last July in the ODI best remembered for the record temperatures at Chester-le-Street.
