England seamer Jimmy Anderson claimed his 564th Test wicket on Tuesday
Jimmy Anderson has overtaken Glenn McGrath to become the most prolific fast bowler in Test history.
England veteran Anderson claimed his 564th wicket in the format on the final day of the international summer, removing Indian batsman Mohammed Shami at The Oval, to step ahead of McGrath.
The Lancashire seamer, who made his debut against Zimbabwe in 2003, reaches the landmark from 143 matches.
Over the course of his career, Anderson has bowled more than 31,000 deliveries - more than any other seamer in Tests - and conceded a little more than 15,000 runs.
His average of a shade under 27 is the sixth best of the 10 leading Test-match wicket-takers of all time.
